MOD POST: september mod log plotting

Dear Reverie Operators,

On September 1, the next mod log will go live. This post outlines what will occur, giving you suggestions for character action and the possibility to ask questions. There are many mysteries still unsolved aboard Reverie Terminal and this log will give characters the opportunity to address some of them.

Warnings: research, risk of electrocution, (justified?) paranoia

RESEARCH IN THE LIBRARY
Characters have access to the library and with it, to magazines and newspapers from Earth’s past up to the station’s inception. This means that with a bit of research, it may be possible to unearth the reasons why Reverie Terminal was built.

Comment below to receive a brief run-down of a magazine or newspaper article that your character can uncover. Some of these may provide answers, some of them… maybe not so much.

CUSTOM INTELLIGENCE REVERIE STATION
There have been indications before that characters aren’t alone on the station and now, characters get to meet an NPC (on September 04) who has been there all along, only silent: CIRSTA, the station’s AI.

While CIRSTA will primarily interact with characters via the network, we will be introducing her on the mod log and characters are welcome to interact with her there, to ask questions and the like.

The log will also feature a prompt for characters to react to CIRSTA’s emergence and to discuss whether to trust her, if they’re so inclined.

COMMAND TROUBLE
On September 09, the command deck goes dark. CIRSTA will diagnose an electrical outage, which will be confirmed as characters try to find the source of the problem.

It will turn out that someone or something has ripped several wires apart, seemingly by sheer physical strength, disrupting the electrical circuit that keeps the command deck supplied. The panelling has all been replaced again (or never touched before?) and other than the ripped and frayed wires, there is no sign of any action. No fingerprints, nothing. Characters are advised to put their worries about who would sabotage the station in such a way aside in order to work together to fix it.

CIRSTA is happy to talk characters through the process, if they trust her enough to listen.

For this prompt, we suggest characters work in teams to i.) find the problem (risk of electrocution), ii.) fix the problem (even greater risk of electrocution) and iii.) try not to grow too paranoid at the apparent proof of sabotage on the station.

Please feel free to use this post to plot with each other!

Since we should work in teams is there any way we can sign up for those characters who would do so and be RNG'd into teams by you guys? It would provide an opportunity for new CR and feel more structured than just tagging around IMO. Thanks for your consideration!

Is there material available in the library in audio format? Kanan would love to do research but he's blind and can't read braille so he would need it read to him either by a computer or... I guess he could make his apprentice read it... XD

Would characters be able to trace/inquire as to where/how in the station's computer systems CIRSTA is stored? and where she's been until this point?

Do text threads with CIRSTA count for 10 points or 15, since they're in the log comm?

Marina is an engineer, so even with the difference in tech level she knows how engineering stuff goes--will Cirsta's advice on fixing the problem sound legitimate?

In terms of addressing CIRSTA, does she only reply via comm or does she answer if spoken to at random, or via any of the panels? Jasnah is going to have a million questions and is also going to tediously, systematically try addressing her from every single corner of the station.
