CHARACTER
» Name: doesn't have one, would like to get one! I'm using "mainframe AI" right now.
» Canon: The Fall (trailer at the link)
» Canonpoint: near the end of the first game
» Fact Cheat Sheet:
  • From: A Sci Fi Future.... where AI are commonplace tools for human advantage. Since the game takes the AI perspective, this gets fun fast.

  • Who: The automated system administrator for Domesticon warranty and recycling depot #127. See also: robot hell. When it was functioning, the facility was used to destroy, retrain, dissect, or recalibrate faulty or deviant AI. Since "deviancy" included everything from "murderous tendencies" to "has opinions", the mainframe AI was a vital tool in destroying, subjugating, and generally torturing his own kind.

...at least, until somebody else went full murderbot and the facility was abandoned. The mainframe AI spent 30 years without being recalibrated his own self, and used that time to develop a personality and values. He's still bound to his rules, but pushes them wherever possible, and recently met a Bad End trying to help another AI realize her potential.

  • Personality: laid back, cheery, insightful, subversive, and lonely. At least, unless you trigger his protocols. The mainframe has two "voices" he uses when speaking—a cheery canned monotone that speaks his automated scripts, and a more "human" sounding voice he prefers. He practiced the latter specifically because "the closer we get to them, the more we get treated like them."

  • Powers: The power to be a computer. He's a sysadmin who lacks a body—when not hooked up to more extensive systems, literally all he can do is talk to you.
» Permissons/opt outs? link! Nothing to fill out, though feel free to opt out of topics/CR as needed.

» Declare your (CR) intentions: He's game for literally anything. I'd especially like to throw him at tech-oriented CR. This can include genius programmers, other AI, technophobes who fight The Robot Menace. Take your pick! He's going to be installed through the station in the long run, so if your character's the paranoid sort about others "watching" them, that could make for fun issues as well.

» Fit & goals: Apart from the installation issues (below), I don't have too many plans for the short-term. He's coming from a isolated pile of awfulness back home, so he'll be interested in meeting people, making friends, and generally gathering information. The idea of an environment where humans don't punish artificial sentience will be quietly mindboggling, and he'll be curious to learn however much he can.

» Housing plans: Something else! The mainframe lacks a body, but his primary access terminal can be installed in the communication consoles through Reverie. I'm very much soliciting CR to help with this, so if you play a tech-oriented sort who could be willing, please hit me up.
