ryuji, despite being a hotheaded little dipshit who has barely any impulse control, is super against the concept of killing someone in an "ends justifies the means" sort of way. without getting too much into spoilers, there's someone in his life, a part of his own team, that betrays them because of that very concept, and he struggles with concepts like forgiveness (his father was an abusive drunk, his former track team members hate him, etc) and acceptance.... so he tries really hard to better himself because of it. ax and him had a good discussion over someone that was suffering and in pain, and ultimately, ryuji couldn't do the merciful thing. to protect his innocence, ax did what had to be done.
that said, ryuji was surprisingly chill with someone turning from a mole into a mole, and even continued to call him moleman, so there's that.
so if marco is looking for someone who will listen to him and hear him out and offer that "hero" side of things, ryuji's definitely there to listen and even if he doesn't have the best advice, he'll be understanding and probably say something endearingly earnest that'll help marco with his PTSD. little doses, though... ryuji's a handful (and i'm sorry in advance)
