October Plotting, Pt II

Hello again, humans and hellions alike!

For two weeks now, you've lived under the devil's wing. Changes have come to many of you, and slowly but surely the station has been changing as well. For the devils among you, the time has come to make this station your own. And for those who resisted her siren call, the time has come to take a stand...

On October 15th, Venus will make an announcement for all devils willing to listen: the devil has been making some changes to the station's decor, and she's not the only one who can help out. From this point on, devil characters will be able to physically change areas around the station to be more suited for them! Want your character's room to reflect their changes? Think the mess hall would look better if the replicators were made of flesh? Think that there are just too many right angles in the corridors for your character's taste? This is your chance to rectify this! All publically accessible areas, and your character's private quarters, are up for grabs here; please note in the header below if/what your character will be corrupting. (Also, if you're going to do anything with a public space, please try to keep your character's changes to one area!)

However, it's not just the devils who will be given something new to play with. On this same day, October 15th, anyone visiting the chapel will find a surprise: radios, of all shapes and sizes and types. They are fully functional - if mostly giving out static - and playing around with their tuning mechanisms yields a different "voice" for each. Some are prayers spoken in a familiar language; some are reassuring words spoken softly; and some are sounds entirely inhuman, clicks and crystals and gears humming in tune. Regardless of what's actually being spoken, these stations are soothing and invigorating for anyone who hasn't consorted with the devil. For devils, they are the opposite; loud, grating, even physically draining if turned up too loud.

These radios are not the same as the one which kicked all this off, but they share one very important property: the ability to fight the devils and their corruption. When wielded by someone who rebuked the devil's offer, they will manifest as a weapon/element (think "magical girl" more than "stabby bits") and put even an average human on an even playing field with any of the devils! What your character's radio looks like and how it manifests is entirely up to you; whether it's a small radio with an antenna that can be used as a magic sword, or a clunky tube radio that belches fire out the front, or even something completely indescribable that looks nothing like a radio, anything is fair game!

Notably, characters with radios also cleanse corrupted areas. How this goes down and how successful the results are is up to individual players, so let your imagination run wild! Just remember that these are places made with a devil's own two(?) hands, and that you might encounter some fairly heavy resistance if you want to get things back to normal. Maybe bringing a few friends is a better idea...

Please note: regardless of IC conflicts, if you want to cleanse an area another player has chosen to corrupt, you must reach an agreement with this player first! You can use the list of areas devils will be corrupting under the header below to plot this out.

With chaos erupting on both sides, something will have to be done to resolve things quickly. This plot will thus run for only one week, ending when an intrepid group of not-devils either takes out the radio that started all this by force or convinces Venus and the other devils to remove it. As this final showdown has the potential to get bloated real fast, this elite group will be four characters (one per player) chosen randomly from all signed up characters below. Please only sign up if your character didn't become a devil - this final prompt is meant for them, after all! Once the group has been chosen, contact will be established with the group to see how the situation plays play out. Signups end in 48 hours, so be quick!

At the end of the event, if your character's changes are reverting, they will slowly revert back to ordinary people. The rate at which your character's changes revert is left to your discretion, though if you're getting rid of changes they should be gone within about two weeks to prevent too much overlap with upcoming plots. Locations on the ship will "deteriorate" in a similar, slow fashion. Minor changes to your character’s living quarters can remain, provided everyone in said living quarters is okay with the changes. Finally, any humans who picked up a radio will find that it no longer works: the magic power has evaporated completely, and they can no longer pick up the channels they used to.

By the end of the month, when some things are back to normal and some changes still remain, a new calamity will emerge that cleanses the last of the changes to the station (other than those minor changes to living quarters mentioned above): it has to do with holy water and it will bring a very different kind of change for all characters.

Stay strong, Reverie Operators - it's not every day you fight your way out of hell!
